BAD WEATHER
If classes are canceled due to inclement weather, you are responsible for reading and learning the material that would have been covered. If an exam was scheduled and classes are canceled, the exam time will not be extended unless classes are canceled on the last day of an Exam. If this happens the Instructor will set a new end date for that exam. (BE PREPARED) If class is canceled the last day of the semester and an exam was scheduled, then the exam will be added to the Final Exam and the questions will count as the exam and as the final exam. If class is canceled during finals week, check the AC website for new exam times. Cancelations will be announced on the Radio by 6:30 AM or by 3:00 PM for evening classes. Also check the AC website.
TAKING QUIZZES & EXAMS: If your computer, laptop, PC, Mac, tablet, and/or internet connection is slow, weak, problematic, unreliable, or possessed, it is “highly” recommended that you seek a reliable computer and/or internet connection such as those at the AC Underground. It is your responsibility to insure that you attempt all quizzes and exams on a reliable computer. Cellphones, Ipads, and other tablets seem to always have problems, so I DO NOT recommend taking exams on any of theses devices
WAITING UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE: If you wait until the last minute to complete online assignments, quizzes, labs, or exams, you’re almost guaranteed to encounter computer problems. Completing assignments in advance should insure technology will work as planned.
EXPECTATIONS FOR SUCCESS:
1. Attend and be on time to all class meetings.
2. Participate in class activities and discussions.
3. Prepare for class by completing all chapter readings and bringing appropriates supplies to class.
4. Complete all assignments before the due date.
5. Designate 18-36 hours of study time per week outside class before the semester begins and stick to your study schedule.
6. Keep up with your grades and class average.
7. Maintain college level effort and behaviors in the class.

REMOTE SCIENCE TUTORING AND SUCCESS CENTER HOURS:
Mon-Sat 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
DEPARTMENT MANDATORY TUTORING: Science Tutoring and Success Center STSC (Warren Hall 110)
In an effort to increase retention in Biology courses, any student who scores below a 70 on any exam (excluding Exam 5) must complete a mandatory online tutoring session before taking the next exam. Before getting mandatory tutoring, students must first schedule a tutoring time with online scheduler in the Tutoring Guide.
The STSC will do its best to accommodate a student’s schedule within the STSC hours of operation. This may require plenty of advanced notice by the student as time slots fill quickly.
FREE ONLINE TUTORING:
Peer tutors are available Online with the Science Tutoring and Success Center
CHEATING in the TESTING CENTER: See STC Contract for other rules.
Cheating will not be tolerated in any biology course at Amarillo College. On the first day of class, you will be required to sign and date a Course Contract. Included in the contract is the following statement: "I fully understand that if I cheat, or attempt to cheat, on any test I will receive an automatic “F” in the course. This grade will go on my permanent transcript and cannot be removed. Cheating includes, but is not limited to: the illegal use of books, notes, cell phones*, copying or leaving the Science Testing Center with a test or questions from a test. Cheating also includes helping, or attempting to help, other students to cheat on a test." You will not be allowed to take your tests until this contract is signed and on file in the Biology Office.
Regular attendance is necessary for satisfactory achievement, therefore it is the responsibility of the student to attend each class.
Absences will result in zeros for any assignment or quiz that was given
If you stop coming to class and do not officially drop the course you will receive an “F” for the course. You must meet with the instructor prior to dropping the course. Texas law now mandates that students may only drop or withdraw 6 times in their entire college career, which excludes drops prior to census date.
You must always wait for the Instructor. The Instructor will post a note on the door if he will be absent. (NO 15 Minute Rule)
