The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.
Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016
Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Attendance and Participation grading for class
The following outline will be used for daily grading for all classes from 7:30-1:00
Points will start to be deducted for arriving after 8:00 for showing up at
8:00-8:15-----10
8:15-8:30-----20
8:30-8:45-----30
8:45-9:00-----40
9:00-and after 50+
Showing up after 9:00 without a valid excuse, and you may be sent home for the day. Repeatedly showing up late will result in more points being deducted for each occurrence.
Lunch is from 12:00-12:30 every day unless otherwise stated, arriving back late will be up to 25 points deducted from your daily total.
If you leave at lunch time either at 12 or 12:30, provided you showed up on time and have no other deductions you will get a 75 for the day. Leaving early, without getting your instructors permission first, will be counted the same as a tardy.
As is stated in the syllabus, 3 tardy’s equal an absence. Up to 10 points may be deducted from your final grade for each absence.
You must sign in and sign out every day. If you do not sign out, you will be given a 50 for the day, even if you were in class all day. Put the actual time you showed up on the sign in sheet and be honest. If I catch you putting a fake time in or signing out before the day is over, I will take off more points than what I have listed in the rubric above.
If you can’t make it to class, if you at least send me an e-mail letting me know that, along with the reason why before the start of the class, I will give you 25 pts for the day. It is not much but at least it’s not a Zero.
This grade is attendance AND PARTICIPATION. You can be in class all day, but that doesn’t mean you may get a 100. Points can also be deducted for things like but not limited to, being on your cell phone during class time, sleeping, rude or obnoxious behavior, not participating in class discussions or labs, not following directions from your instructor, or any other behavior not fit for a classroom environment.
If you have any questions about this criteria, feel free to discuss them with me personally.
You are expected to attend all class meetings on time and stay for the entire class. Points will be deducted from your attendance and participation grade on a scale based on how late you show up, or for leaving early before class is dismissed.
Ten points may be deducted from your final grade for each absence.
Day 1. Discuss syllabus, tools required for the class, homework, and lab work. In class work over whole numbers, decimals, fractions and metric measurements as they apply to special measuring tools.
Chapter 7: Power Tools and Equipment-Assigned
Day 2. Go over how to use a tape measure, steel rule, hack saw, skill saw, and tri-square.
Take Ruler Quiz.
Day 3 Micrometers (inside and outside), depth micrometers (English and metric), calipers (digital and non-digital), dial indicators (English and metric)
Chapter 8: Fasteners And Thread Repair-Assigned
Day 4. Start Lab 1, measuring and cutting accuratly 2x4's
Day 5. Start Lab 2, measuring, cutting and drilling holes in metal accuralty
Go over and learn how to use SAE Micrometers, measure brake rotors and take the SAE Mic Quiz
Chapter 6: Basic Tools and Precision Measuring-Assigned
Day 6. Go over and learn how to use Metric Micrometers, measure brake rotors and take the Metric Mic Quiz
Day 7. Start Lab 5, measuring various engine components with Metric and SAE Micrometers, dial indicators, and feeler gauges
Day 8. Work on and finish any Labs
Day 9. Review and take final exam with performance exam.
Calender is tentative and subject to change based on lab work and Instructor discretion.

You MUST get your Instructor's permission to bring a vehicle into the shop. If you do not, you WILL be asked to leave the shop.
Vehicles are not to remain "overnight". Any work performed MUST be completed by the end of class. Verify you have ALL parts and supplies needed to complete any maintenance or repair. If unsure, ask your instructor prior to work being started.
All vehicles brought into the shop MUST have a repair order filled out and placed on the windshield.
Honk your horn prior to entering and leaving the shop.
Have a window down and keys outside of the vehicle to prevent being locked out.
