Amarillo College Tutoring for Success Policy:

The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.

Administrative Drop Policy

Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Prerequisite: DFTG 1309 or department chair consent

Course Description

A continuation of practices and techniques used in basic computer-aided drafting emphasizing batched files, scripted files, customized program menus and extracted attributes. Introduction to three-dimensional drafting.

Flash drive for project storage - Espically when working in the lab

Students may download AutoCAD 2020 from http://students.autodesk.com free of charge. You will need to log in or create an account in order to download the software. >NEW< Autodesk may require additional documentation for proof that you are a student.

A PC (Personal Computer) - A Windows-based computer with at least 12GB of RAM, a 1 GB Graphics card, and enough space to install the program. Students will have access to The Underground, located in the basement of Ware Student Commons. It has computers with the appropriate software installed and available for your use. - This will suffice for all programs for the drafting program. 

  • I have had limited luck using a Mac/Apple computer.
  • A Chromebook will not suffice for drafting 

Please download the Free Slack App on your phone. This is a messaging app - At the beginning of class, the instructor will send a link for you to join the class

Students are expected to maintain a high standard of individual honor in their scholastic work. Students who are guilty of cheating, plagiarism, copying, or dishonesty may receive a 0 on an assignment; may be excluded from class with a grade of F; or, in flagrant cases, may be suspended from the College.

It is the responsibility of the student to initiate drop or withdrawal procedures. Students who stop attending a class but do not officially drop or withdraw from this course will receive a letter grade at the end of the semester.  

Any student who, because of a disabling condition, may require some special arrangements in order to meet course requirements should contact the Student Service Center, phone 371-5436 as soon as possible

Attendance

All Week 1 assignments must be completed by Saturday of Week 1 (October 31 @ 11:59 pm), in order to be considered Present in the course. Failure to complete all assignments by this date may lead to an administrative drop from the course.

This course will be a "tech-supported" course. All lectures and assignments will be posted in Blackboard. Assignments need to be completed by the due date. 8-week courses are very fast-paced and it is easy to fall behind. Reach out to the instructor or your classmates if you need help. 

 

Check your email and log into Blackboard daily.  The email address used by your instructor is the @amarillocollege.com email address issued to each AC student. Your instructor will communicate important course updates via email/Blackboard.

CLASSROOM CONDUCT:

  • IF YOU ARE RUNNING A FEVER, PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE LAB. If you need help, reach out to the instructor or another classmate via email or slack. 
  • Food is not allowed in the lab. Drinks are allowed ONLY if they have a LID.
  • Cell Phones
    • turned off or set to “vibrate” during class.
    • You are not permitted to watch videos during class.
    • If you must take a phone call, please take it outside in the hallway.
  • Headphones may be worn while working on an assignment, but the volume must be kept at a level that does not disturb others.
  • Students can work on other class assignments only after the assignments for this class are complete.
TECHNOLOGY & COMPUTING ISSUES
  • The Underground: AC's new student technology/collaboration lab in the basement of the Ware Student Commons on the Washington Street Campus:  http://www.actx.edu/underground  There are 4 drafting computers in the Underground with our current software on them. Please use them!
  • Computer Services Center: Located within the AC Bookstore, trained staff will diagnose computer-related issues and repair problems on a fee-for-service basis. Laptop rentals are also available.   • Student & Faculty Help Center: Located on the first floor of Ware Student Commons, the Help Center provides technical support to students and faculty.   • For students living in Hereford - You may visit the lab in Hereford to complete work as well.
