The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Collection, analysis, presentation and interpretation of data, and probability. Analysis includes descriptive statistics, correlation and regression, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. Use of appropriate technology is recommended.

Getting Started with MyStatLab
To access MyStatLab where your online homework is located, first log into our course in Blackboard. You will need the following information:
Student Access Code: If you chose to purchase a new textbook, the student access code can be found in the MyStatLab kit wrapped with your textbook. If you chose not to purchase the textbook, you can buy the access code online with a credit card during the registration process.
Email Address: Use the address you check most often.

To get started after registering:
1.) Log into Blackboard by clicking the AC Connect button at the college website www.actx.edu.
2.) Click the MyStatLab link at the left of the page in our course in Blackboard.
3.) Click the SECOND link, "MyStatLab with Pearson e-text Course Home." This is where you can review previously submitted assignments by clicking on Gradebook or Review.
4.) To work on assignments, click the “Homework” button, and choose the section you wish to complete.
5.) To access the textbook, click the “Chapter Contents” button, and choose the chapter and section you wish to view.
6.) To view a power point presentation of a particular section, click the “Multimedia Library” button, and choose the chapter and section you wish to view or print.

POLICY ON CHEATING AND PLAGIARISM: Plagiarism and cheating will not be tolerated in any math course at Amarillo College. Students that cheat, or attempt to cheat, on any test will receive an automatic “F” in the course. This grade will go on your permanent transcript and cannot be removed. Cheating includes, but is not limited to, the illegal use of books, notes, cell phones, copying or leaving the Math Testing Center with a test or questions from a test. Cheating also includes helping, or attempting to help, other students to cheat on a test.
BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS/CLASSROOM GROUND RULES: Students are expected to behave in the online environment the same way as in a traditional classroom. In order to receive credit for a course, all material listed on the syllabus must be covered. The instructor sets the pace to ensure that these requirements are met. Complaining about the pace will not result in less material being covered. Students who fail to comply with the standards outlined in the syllabus and/or “Student Rights & Responsibilities” will be subject to disciplinary action which may include but is not limited to; denied access to online course, consultation with department chair and/or other AC authority, withdrawal from the course and/or the college.
The final average will be computed based on the following percentage basis:

The final letter grades are assigned based on the following numerical result:

INSTRUCTIONAL METHOD / EXAMINATIONS / ASSIGNMENTS and GRADING:
Online homework (10% of your total grade): All homework is in MyStatLab. After registering, click on the "homework" button found on the homepage. Online homework must be submitted before midnight CST on the due date. The due dates for the online homework and tests will be listed on MyStatlab and also within the schedule portion of the syllabus. Two lowest homework grades will be dropped. Turning in all your homework is one of the best things you can do to improve your grade!
Online and Written Labs (15% of your overall grade): Labs will be completed in Rstudio and on paper. Directions about the labs will be given
Online Exam Reviews (5% of your overall grade): Exam reviews will be completed in MyStatsLab.
Online Tests (50% of your total grade): A minimum of 4 online tests will be completed in MyStatLab by the due date(s) indicated in MyStatlab. Online tests may only be accessed twice and will be timed. All Online work (HW and Tests) must be submitted before midnight CST on the due date. Online exams may NOT be taken late. If a student misses an exam the grade will be replaced by the final exam grade. Any additional missed exams will receive a grade of 0.
Final (20% of your overall grade): Under NO circumstances will the final be given late (i.e. No Make Ups)!! The final will be comprehensive and will be given online and is timed.
Keep on track: All homework and tests can be started early. You may work ahead. Do not to wait until the last minute to start an assignment so that if you are ill or have technical difficulties you are not put in a bind.

ATTENDANCE POLICY: Please remember the deadline for dropping a class at AC is published in the official Amarillo College Schedule of Classes. If you stop attending class and your average drops below a 60 due to missed assignments and you do not officially drop the course by this deadline, you will receive an F for the course.
You must be working on assignments in an online course to be considered attending.
The deadline for dropping this course is Decemeber 8, 2020. Students now have to visit with the instructor and complete a drop request form before being allowed to withdraw from a course. It is the student's responsibility to turn the form into the registrar once the instructor has signed it. Deadline for letting me know you want to drop is noon on December 8, 2020. If you stop attending class and your average drops below a 60 due to missed assignments and you do not officially drop the course by this deadline, you will receive an F for the course. Note: Late drops will NOT be given under any circumstance.
