Tutoring for Success applies to any student whose overall performance in the course falls below 75%. The instructor will create the task in the Student Engagement Portal (Watermark) to direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty- or SI-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. The tutoring service assigned, the due date for when the tutoring must be completed, and the amount of tutoring required are at the discretion of the instructor. Additionally, the task will alert the student’s success team. Students who do not fulfill the assigned tutoring task may be subject to program- and course-specific penalties that could result in a grade reduction and/or in not being allowed to progress in the course until the tutoring requirement has been satisfied.
Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016
Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) For more information on Drop and Withdrawal Policies, please visit the Registrar's Office Web site.

Grading Scale
Biology, A&P II, 2402-020 Tentative Agenda, Summer 2024
Grading Criteria:
Instructional methods/examinations: The lecture accounts for 50% of the final grade, laboratory section accounts for 25% of the final grade and a comprehensive final exam will account for 25% of the overall grade.
Lecture Grade Totals (50%): Includes exams, quizzes, and homework:
Lecture Exams (50%): 5 lecture exams will be given throughout the course of the semester. The lecture exams will be a combination of multiple choice, matching, identifications, and fill in the blank. One lowest exam score will be dropped; therefore, THERE WILL BE NO MAKE UP EXAMS. Each exam will be worth 12.5% of your overall grade for a combined total of 50%. A missed exam becomes a zero or the dropped exam.
If you make less than a 70 on any major exam, you will be required to obtain 60 minutes of tutoring from the assigned A&P tutor PRIOR to taking the next test. You will not be allowed to take the next test until after verification from the tutoring center that you have received this tutoring.
Quizzes (15%) – There will be several lecture quizzes given online/in-class throughout the course of the semester. The instructor reserves the right to let the students know ahead of time about a quiz or assign pop quizzes. There will be one lowest dropped lecture quiz grade; therefore, NO MAKE-UP QUIZZES WILL BE ALLOWED.
Homework (10%) – There will be homework assigned for each chapter. Homework will be due before each lecture exam for each chapter covered by the exam. There are eleven chapters to be covered. Each assignment will be valued at 2 points. Homework that does not conform to the expected format will lose a point. Late homework will lose a point. 2 assignments will be dropped.
Grade Homework and Quizzes, TOTALS (25%): Homework, quizzes and other work as determined by the instructor.
Final examination (25%): A comprehensive exam equal to one-fourth of the total grade for the semester. THE FINAL EXAM IS MANDATORY AND CANNOT BE DROPPED/MADE UP. IT WILL BE TAKEN IN CLASS BEFORE OR ON THE FINAL CLASS DAY.
Final grade determination: Grades will not be curved under any circumstances.
