Amarillo College Tutoring for Success Policy:

The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.

Administrative Drop Policy

Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Design and execution of makeup for the stage performer. Includes discussion of basic makeup principles and practical experience of makeup application.

Student Performance

(minimum competencies)

After studying the material presented in this course of study, the student will be able to do the following as evaluated by the faculty in the department/program.

1. Collect and correctly utilize the tools and materials for stage makeup.
2. Develop varying techniques for makeup application.
3. Demonstrate creativity in four different makeup projects.
4. Compile a photographic morgue for research and inspiration.

This course is designed to give the theatre major or interested student the basic tools and techniques for creating makeup effects for the stage.
As a course that is based firmly in laboratory practice, the student will gain the necessary skills to apply makeup, to him or herself and to others, through daily application and observation.
Developing a personal style that conveys the illusionary art of makeup is the ultimate goal for the student in this course.

Expected Student Behavior

Do not wear street makeup to class as you will have to take class time to remove it.

Grading Criteria

Makeups Average = 40%

Final Project = 25%

Makeup Morgue = 10%

Attendance = 15%

Critique = 10%

A = 90-100 overall competency percentage
B = 80-89
C = 70-79
D = 60-69
F = 0-59

Worksheets are considered in the grading as a part of the makeup.

Late makeup presentations will receive a 10-point deduction for being late.  It is up to the student to make arrangements with the instructor to present the missed makeup.  Missed makeup presentations must be completed within one week of the original due date.

**The Final Project must be presented on the due date as there will be no opportunity to present a late Final Project.

Critique is due before (and will not be accepted after) May 11 @ 11:59pm. The student MUST consult with the AC Writer's Corner (either online or in person) before submitting.

Attendance

Since this is a class where personal development, skills, and artistic ability is a goal, attendance is taken daily including the online sessions.
