The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

Students are expected to behave in the classroom in a manner that is supportive of the learning environment. Troublesome behavior will NOT be tolerated. In order to receive credit for a course, all material listed on the syllabus must be covered. The instructor sets the pace to ensure that these requirements are met. Cheating includes, but is not limited to, copying from another student’s paper, using unauthorized sources of information on any assignment, turning in work that is not your own (copied from the solution manual, having someone else do your work, etc.), and allowing someone to copy from your paper. On the first day of class, you will be required to sign and date a Course Contract. Included in the contract is the following statement: “I fully understand that if I cheat, or attempt to cheat on any test I will receive an automatic “F” in the course. This grade will go on my permanent transcript and cannot be removed. Cheating includes, but is not limited to: the illegal use of books, notes, smart watches, cell phone, and the use of cell phone calculators, copying or leaving the testing session with a test or questions from a test. Cheating also includes helping, or attempting to help, other students to cheat on a test.” You will not be allowed to take your tests until this contract is signed. Please note: NO CELL PHONES AND NO SMART WATCHES IN THE MATH TESTING CENTER OR DURING THE TESTING PROCESS IN THE CLASSROOM. If we see your cell phone out AT ANY TIME, FOR ANY REASON, while in the testing session, YOU WILL RECEIVE an “F” for the course!
The final average will be computed based on the following percentage basis:

Homework: Expect to have homework every day in this course! Homework will be completed through Pearson's MyStatLab. Instructions on how to enroll in our course will be given on the first day of class. At the end of the semester, I will drop your two lowest homework grades. Turning in all your homework is one of the best things you can do to improve your grade!
Pre-Class Assignments and Quizzes: Each day there will be pre-class assignments. These will usually consist of videos to watch and quizzes to take before class. Students will be allowed to use any handwritten notes over the pre-class assignments on the quiz.
Labs: There will be labs given at each lab session over the prior lecture and/or homework. Labs will consist of completing written lab assignments covering the concepts we have discussed in lecture. Most labs will be completed in R Studio. More information will be given the first day of class. Attendance in lab is mandatory. You must stay for the entire lab period or complete the lab before you leave. Assignment deadlines will be announced as material is covered. I do not accept late lab assignments. If you are absent during the lab session, you will be given a zero for that lab. At the end of the semester, I will drop your two lowest lab grades. Use these days wisely.
If you are absent, it is your responsibility to contact another student to find out the assignments due before the following class. You may e-mail me at mandiwheeler@amarillocollege.com, but you take the chance that I may not retrieve the message before the due date. And remember, LATE HOMEWORK IS NOT ACCEPTED.
Exams: There will be 4 major exams. If you miss a major exam, the grade on your final exam will be used to replace the missing grade. I do not offer make-up exams. If you miss more than one exam (remember the first missed one is replaced by your grade on the final exam) a second missed exam will be recorded as a zero. If you do not miss any exam and your final exam grade is higher than your lowest test score, I will replace the lowest test score with your final test grade. Major exams will be administered as a take home due to the current state of our community. If you make below 70 on a major exam, you must complete a test assignment in the Outreach Center before the next major exam.
Final: Under NO circumstances will the final be given late (i.e. No Make Ups)!! The final will be comprehensive and will be given on the last class day.
I do not give extra credit work.
Regular attendance is necessary for clear understanding of the material in this course. The class will meet in Google Meet. The link is availble in Blackboard. If an absence occurs, THE STUDENT is responsible for obtaining the information that was covered in class and any assignments that were given. Please remember the deadline for dropping this class is Tuesday, May 4th. If you stop attending class and your average drops below a 60 due to missed assignments and/or poor grades and you do not officially drop the course by this deadline, you will receive an F for the course.
In addition to attending at least one class meeting by census date, the following assignments must be completed by Sunday, March 28th, in order to be considered Present in the course. Failure to complete all requirements by this date may lead to an administrative drop from the course.

Complete assignments by the scheduled date/time. There is a "no late work" policy, except in extreme circumstances.
Attendance will be taken during each class period. Excessive absence or lack of participation may result in failure of the course.
Attendance in lab is mandatory. If you are absent from the lab problem session, you will not be allowed to turn in your lab assignment the following class period.
Students should plan on spending a minimum of 20 hours per week outside of class on this course. This time commitment is not an exaggeration. Actual amounts will vary depending on weekly assignments, topic complexity, and prior experience with the subject matter.
Due to the nature of this course and the volume of work required to master this material, schedule your time so that you are able to devote the appropriate energy and effort to achieve success in this course.
