The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.
Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016
Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) 2. Discuss regulations of the Texas Nursing Practice Act and Texas Board of Nursing that pertain to the promotion of patient safety in mental health environments.

Explain various approaches to coordinate, collaborate and communicate in a timely manner with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to promote and provide quality holistic patient-centered care to patients who require psychiatric medications, therapeutic communication, and constant observation.

Student performance:
As students, you are considered full partners in helping to develop a classroom environment which is conducive (positive) to learning. In order to assure that all students have the opportunity to gain from the time spent in class, it is expected that unless approved by the instructor, as part of a learning activity, that students will not engage in any activity or behavior that takes away from the learning environment (milieu). Any inappropriate behavior in the classroom may/will result in the student being asked to leave the classroom. (see Associate Degree Nursing Student Handbook, Professional Conduct, American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, and the AC student Rights and Responsibilities).
It is expected that students will come prepared for class with the appropriate “Ticket to Class” assignment completed and actively participate in discussions and activities. In order to complete the TTC and engage in class, students will greatly benefit from viewing narrated Powerpoints via Vidgrid PRIOR to class.
Academic Integrity & Accountability Policy: (see ADN Student Handbook):
Students are expected to maintain high academic standards and not engage in ANY form of academic dishonesty, including but not limited to plagiarism, collusion, cheating on exams or any other assignments.
Students are expected to arrive at least 15 minutes early for any exam and treat any testing environment as such. Also, if a student cannot be at the exam, it is that student’s responsibility to contact the instructor and arrange for a make-up test.
The following criteria and grading scale will be used to determine the Course Grade:
1. An average of four module exams will account for 70% of the course grade.
2. HESI Specialty Exam is 4% of the course grade.
3. HESI final exam is 18% of the course grade.
4. HESI Patient Reviews are 2% of the course grade.
5. "Ticket to Class" assignments and active participation in class are 2% of course grade.
6. Experiential Learning Activity is 2% of course grade.
7. Blackboard Quizzes are 2% of course grade.
8. Any make-up exam must be scheduled within ONE WEEK of the missed exam & taken prior to the next exam; makeup exams may be essay, short answer and/or multiple choice. Students who are late may not be allowed to take the exam.
9. Completion of remediation for HESI Specialty Exam is required for course completion. Required hours are based on score & detailed in RNSG 2213 Course Manual.
10. Assignments, including Evolve Case Studies, Experiential Learning Activities, Ticket to Class activities, and Blackboard Quizzes, will not be accepted after the due date for credit. Any assignment submitted after the due date will receive a grade of zero.
NOTE: All lab assignments must be completed for successful completion of the course. If an assignment is not completed, the student will not be allowed to sit for the Final Exam and will receive a zero (0) for the final Exam. This will lead to a failure in the course.
Grades will NOT be rounded. The grading scale is as follows:
A - 100-90%
B - 89.9-80%
C - 79.9-75%
D - 74.9-60%
F - Below 60%
Regular classroom attendance is necessary for satisfactory achievement. Less than 90% of classroom hours may result in failure of the course.
