The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.
Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016
Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) HIST-1302-017 United States History II
A survey of the social, political, economic, cultural and intellectual history of the United States from the Civil War/Reconstruction era to the present. United States History II examines industrialization, immigration, world wars, the Great Depression, Cold War and post-Cold War eras. Themes that may be addressed in United States History II include: American culture, religion, civil and human rights, technological change, economic change, immigration and migration, urbanization and suburbanization, the expansion of the federal government and the study of U.S. foreign policy.

Assignments: There will be an online quiz for each chapter. Quizzes for chapters will be due before the Tuesday class of the next week. Quizzes submitted after the due date will have 20 points deducted.
Most chapters will have a homework assignment that will include reading and writing on documents.
The course has a required paper. This paper will be assigned following Chapter 19. It will be completed and turned in by stages. Assignments will be made to help you write the paper in stages to make sure you are on the right track.
Students will earn 10% of their grade through attendance and classroom participation in activities and discussions.
Students will 20% of their grade from the paper that will be assigned. Details will be announced in class.
The homework average will combine for 35% of the final grade.
The chapter quizzes will count for 35% with the lowest grade being dropped.
All work will be graded on the following scale: 90-100 = A, 80-89 = B, 70-79 =C, 60-69 = D, less than 60 = F
Extra Credit Assignments will not be made.
Attendance will be taken and counts toward your grade. One absence will be excused. Success in the course requires attendance. Responsibility to drop the course resides with the student if you decide to stop attending. At the end of each week attendance will be recorded as a 100 if both classes were attended, a 50 for attending once, a 0 for not attending a class.
