Expected Student Behavior

Preparation

In order for the ensemble to present optimal performances, it is imperative that each member be prepared for each rehearsal.  Take time to practice difficult passages outside of rehearsal.  Please remember that rehearsals are not indivdual practice time.

Grading Criteria

This is a participation based course as reflected in the attendance and preparation policies.  Additional rehearsals are a requirement of this course.  Please check the Course Calender for those dates.  At any point in the semester a student may be given a performance assessment.  This will require the student to perform excerpts from the current repertoire for the conductor during a mutually agreed upon time.  The prerformance assessment will then account for 50% of the student's semester grade.

Attendance

It is expected that every member be at every rehearsal.  Recurrent tardiness will result in the lowering of one's grade.  Do what is necessary to be on time.   Any foreseen absences must be communicated and cleared with the conductor in advance to be considered excused.  Absences may be excused in the case of an emergency or illness.  Any unexcused absences from regular rehearsals will result in the lowering of one's grade.  Missing a dress rehearsal or performance will result in failure of the course.

Calendar

Calendar and important dates will be given out at rehearsal.
