The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.
Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016
Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Emphasis on arithmetic review of whole numbers and fractions; decimals; ratio and percent; measurement and basic geometry; signed numbers; simple algebraic expressions; applications. Adult Basic Education Credit Level. Special emphasis on workforce training in a career cluster.

Online Course
All curriculum is provided online via Blackboard. You will log in to Blackboard through Amarillo College’s AC Connect page with your AC email address and password.
In order to receive your AC Connect Email, you must log in through AC Connect at https://acconnect.actx.edu .

COURSE MATERIAL DESCRIPTIONS
Online Lessons and Assignments
The online lessons and assignments are the core part of the course. The lessons will provide instruction, tutorials, and practice on each math topic. Then, you will be given assignments to demonstrate what you have learned.
Lab Assignments
Lab assignments are online assignments that must be completed while working with an Amarillo College math tutor, either on campus or online via a Zoom appointment. See the Math Labs part of the syllabus for more information about the math labs.
Weekly Zoom Meetings
Each week, you must attend a one-hour online Zoom meeting with your online class and instructor. These meetings will focus on practicing math concepts in fun and interactive ways.
Midterm Exam & Final Exam
Your midterm will be taken online. The final exam will be taken at an Amarillo College computer lab on the dates according to the Course Calendar. Tests must be taken on the assigned dates or with special permission before the assigned date. No retakes.
A GED-Ready (practice) test can be taken in place of the midterm and the final exam. Please contact your instructor for more information.
No outside material, phones, or help from another person allowed during the exams. Students may only use the approved TI-30xs calculators on specific portions of the test. No cell phones or unapproved calculators may be used. No outside material or help from another person allowed during the exams.
GED TESTING
GED Tests and GED Ready (Official Practice Tests) can be taken at any time the student is ready. A score of 145 is passing. A score of 150 on the GED Ready (Official Practice Test) can earn the student a voucher to pay for up to two GED exams.
Once the GED Mathematics Test is passed, the student will have officially passed the class, even if the course is not over, and the student does not need to return to the math class and will receive a passing score.

MATH LABS AND MATH TUTORING
Math Outreach Center
Located on the Washington Street Campus in Durrett 104.
The lab is open Monday-Friday 8am--8pm and Saturdays from 9am– pm. You can also reach them at 806-371-5119
Virtual math lab appointments are available at https://www.actx.edu/successcenters/math-outreach-center. Once there, click on “Join Zoom Meeting.”
When using the Math Outreach Center, you are required to scan in and out with your Amarillo College I.D. and you must have your math assignment with you. Tutors will not give you answers but will reinforce concepts taught in class to help you answer the homework questions yourself. Tutors cannot help on any quizzes.

Located on the Washington Street Campus on the 3rd Floor of the Ware Student Center.

Grading Scale
>90% = A
80-89% = B
70-79% = C
60-69% = D
< 60% = F
Late Work and Missed Meetings
After the first two weeks in the course, a late penalty will be applied to any work submitted late. Additionally, there is no way to make up missed Zoom meetings. However, if a major life event occurs that causes you to miss a meeting or submit late work, please contact your instructor.
There are no grade recovery options in this course and there is no extra credit.
Automatic Pass Policy
Any student that passes the GED Reasoning Through Mathematics Test at any point during the course AND has attended 12 or more hours will automatically receive a passing grade in the class.
A failing grade will be earned for any of the following reasons:
You complete the course with an overall average below 60.
You do not complete the course and do not withdraw from the course in time to receive a grade of “W”.
You violate the cheating and plagiarism policy.
Grades will be weighted as follows:
Online Lessons and Assignments: 35%
Weekly Zoom meeting attendance: 20%
Lab assignments: 15%
Midterm Exam: 15%
Final Exam: 15%
ATTENDANCE
Career Ready You Departmental Attendance = Success Policy
Only students who complete 12 or more direct hours in the CRU program are considered to be official students. Regular attendance is necessary for satisfactory achievement. Therefore, it is your responsibility as a student to attend class and be on time for daily attendance check. Nonattendance will be recorded as an absence and no differentiation will be made as to excused or unexcused absences. Repeated leaving class early or coming in late will be counted as an absence.
After dropping or stopping out of the course twice, you may not be allowed to attend CRU courses until the next school year.
