Office Hours

Office Hours and Student appointments:
My office hours in the NRC will vary; will be in Monday and Wednesday 0900-1300 and by appointment.  My class days are Tuesday/Thursday from 0900-1700.

Student appointments:
These visits are done by appointment or communication with myself and my students.  You may stop in any time you wish, however, I do have class on Tuesday/Thursday, all day.
As the NRC Coordinator, I also have to be present during the week for simulation and lab events. Thus the reason for the appointments. Email is the best communication format for me this semester. I will return or answer ASAP. If I do not answer your email after 48 hrs, please email me again. Emails do get lost or buried during the semester.
Thank you and have a wonderful semester.

Grading Criteria

GRADING CRITERIA/GRADE SCALE:

The following criteria will be used to determine your grade:
Passing course grade: 75% or higher
No late assignments will be accepted for this course
Rationale: The National Council Licensure Examination for RNs (NCLEX-RN) has become harder, to reflect the need for nurses who have a high level of critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills. The increase in patient acuity and nursing responsibilities is placing greater demand on current entry-level nurses in comparison to their cohorts in the past. The National Council for State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) prepares the NCLEX-RN and establishes the minimum passing standard.
The Grading scale for RNSG 1309 is:
A = 90-100%
B = 80-89%
C = 75-79%* Students must make a 75% or better to pass their nursing courses
D = 60-74%
F = below 60%
Required graded assignments and Final Course Grades are NOT rounded:
For example: If your average is 74.98 then with NO rounding, your average is a D. If your average is 89.98, with NO rounding your average is a B. If a case study or quiz is 79.85, it is recorded as a 79.85.
*The final grade will consist of 4 Module exams, a Comprehensive Final exam, lab assignments (Evolve Case Studies and Evolve EAQ quizzes), the Evolve Hesi Specialty Exam attempt #2, and completion of mandatory remediation on the Evolve Hesi Specialty exam.
All tutoring and remediation requirements must be completed in order for students to take Module and the Final Exams.
Module I Exam                                         17.5%
Module II Exam                                        17.5%
Module III Exam                                       17.5%
Module IV Exam                                       17.5%
Evolve EAQ quiz average                              3%
Evolve Case Study average                           2%
EVOLVE Specialty Exam-2nd attempt         5%
Comprehensive Final Exam                        20%

Total Final Course Grade              100%
