The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. INRW-0303-LC1 Integrated Reading and Writing
Corequisite: ENGL 1301
The course is designed as a co-requisite, supplemental course for ENGL 1301. The course concentrates on the integration of reading and writing skills. This course does not transfer and is not applicable toward any degree.

Internet access is required for this course. Students may use the computers in The Underground, which is located in the basement of the Ware Student Commons to complete their assignments. Students may also access their assignments via the Internet at home.

English Department Plagiarism Policy (Revised Spring, 2023):
The Amarillo College English Department defines plagiarism as "using exact words from any outside source without using quotation marks or properly citing them; paraphrasing words from any outside source without citing them; or using research from any outside source without citing it."
The Amarillo College English Department defines collusion as "the unauthorized collaboration with another person or by any other means, including artificial intelligence and computer translators, in preparing written work for fulfullment of course requirements."
Any work produced in part or in whole through plagiarism or collusion may receive a penalty on the paper's grade, up to and including a zero for the assignment. A subsequent infraction will result in expulsion from the class. At this point, the case will be referred to the Vice President of Enrollment Management.
Student plagiarism in the Amarillo College English Department is internally tracked. To clarify, records will be kept in the Department of those students who have plagiarized. At the beginning of each new semester, the names of students who plagiarized the previous semester will be sent to all English Department faculty.

No late work will be accepted. Please anticipate problems and work responsibly so that your work will be submitted on time.
If you must stop attending class, you must withdraw officially by the deadline; otherwise, you will receive an F for the semester. The last day to drop this semester is June 22, 2023.
STUDENT WITHDRAWAL PROCEDURES: Students who need to withdraw from class must:
NOTE: The Texas Education Code stipulates that students attending Texas institutions of higher education for the first time fall 2007 and later may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career,including courses from which transfer students have withdrawn at other Texas institutions of higher education. QUIZZES:
Students will complete a 5-question daily quiz (on most days) during class. Quiz grades will be based on attendance as well as reading and writing skills. Students will receive 75 points for attendance and 5 additional points for each correct answer, for a total of 100 points.
LAB:
Adaptive courseware must be completed as assigned for lab credit. Lab assignments will include computer lessons from InQuizitive for Writers that align with the topics that are covered in ENGL-1301. Lab grades will be based on the percentage of questions answered correctly for the assigned lessons.
ASSIGNMENTS:
In-class assignments and online assignments must be completed as assigned. Attendance counts as part of the Assignment grade.
TESTS:
Two major tests (Midterm Exam and Final Exam - Reading) must be taken in class on the assigned days. If student has an unexcused absence during the exam, the option to take it remains for the next 5 days with a 10 point deduction for each day the test is not completed.
ESSAYS:
Essay grades from ENGL-1301-LC will count as essay grades in INRW-0303-LC.
If a students scores less than 70% on an essay, he/she will be subject to mandatory tutuoring.
MAKE-UP POLICY:
Prompt and regular "attendance" is necessary for satisfactory achievement. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to attend class on time. It will be the responsibility of the student to drop the class by the withdrawal date should he/she stop attending; otherwise, a grade of "F" will be given. One course cannot be dropped without dropping both, which might have serious financial aid consequences.
