Tutoring for Success applies to any student whose overall performance in the course falls below 75%. The instructor will create the task in the Student Engagement Portal (Watermark) to direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty- or SI-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. The tutoring service assigned, the due date for when the tutoring must be completed, and the amount of tutoring required are at the discretion of the instructor. Additionally, the task will alert the student’s success team. Students who do not fulfill the assigned tutoring task may be subject to program- and course-specific penalties that could result in a grade reduction and/or in not being allowed to progress in the course until the tutoring requirement has been satisfied.
Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016
Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) For more information on Drop and Withdrawal Policies, please visit the Registrar's Office Web site.

GRADING POLICY
Grading Distribution
The final course grade will be computed as follows:
Chapter Exams and Group Project--60%
Comprehensive Final Exam--40%
A grade of "D" is not possible in this class.
It is not possible to raise a grade at the end of this course by asking for extra work to raise your failing grade. I encourage each student to put forth any extra effort from the start of any course.
The following grade scale shall apply throughout this course:
• A = 100 - 91.5 Percent • C = 82.4 - 74.5 Percent
• B = 91.4 - 82.5 Percent • F = anything below 74.5
A grade of "D" is not possible in this course!
Remote testing rules:
1. You are required to do an environment check by moving your camera all around your testing area.
2. No smart technology allowed in the same room, other than the computer on which you are testing. (no tablets, smart watches, etc).
3. You may not leave the room for any reason during the exam.
4. If you are booted off the exam, you may retrieve your phone because you must take a screen shot of what it shows when it boots you off and send it to the instructor immediately.
5. If you are booted off, you must immediately attempt to log back in to the exam.
6. No two students (or more) may test in the same room at the same time. Each student should find a quiet, empty room in which to test.
7. If Lockdown Browser does not record your session for review for any reason, you will be required to test on campus for each and every test thereafter. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Failure to comply with any of the above rules will result in a 10 point reduction in the test grade for EACH infraction. For example, if you get booted off and wait 30 minutes to log back in (which the instructor can monitor) and you don't take a screen shot and send it to the instructor, that will result in a 20 point reduction of your test grade. If you are sick and think you may need to leave to go to the restroom, do NOT begin the exam. Contact the instructor to work out a different time to take the exam.
If you choose not to perform community service of any kind you may choose to do a research paper and project over your favorite pathology. To choose this option you will be required to present your project to the class on November 30th or December 5th. This must be a 10-15 minute presentation and include the project. The research paper will be a minimum of 4 typed pages. Please see the instructor for a full rubric if choosing this option. You must also attend classes on both days to enjoy the presentations of your classmates. If you choose this option, you will have 5 points added to your lowest chapter exam score, up to, but not greater than 100.
A grade of incomplete will be given until one of the two assignments is completed or 20 days past the end of the semester, at which time the grade will be changed to an F. There will be no extra points offered after the deadlines for these projects.
The group project mentioned above will be done in conjunction with National Radiologic Technology Week. Assignments will be made in October and you will have approximately one month to complete the project (Due date will be November 2nd). This project will be judged by members of the AC faculty and staff outside of the Radiography department. They will be on display in the hallway for all students to see and admire. There is also a major exam grade attached to this project. Specific information and a grading rubric will be made available closer to the assignment date.
Major examinations, the final exam and/or assignments may be completed for 80% credit provided that the work is submitted within one school day immediately following the original due date. Major exams or the final exam taken at times other than scheduled times (before or after) will be graded at 80%. e.g. the course meets for lecture on Tuesday and Thursday. If the student is absent on Tuesday and misses a major exam, the student shall have until the end of the next school day (3:00 pm, Wednesday) to submit arrangements to take the test for 80% credit. The make up exam must be taken within 48 hours of the original test. The final exam must be taken before 3:00 on the Wednesday of finals week.
If you fail any major exam, you must complete a remediation paper. That paper will be emailed to you and must be returned to the instructor completed correctly prior to the next exam. You will not be allowed to take the next exam until the remediation paper is completed 100% correctly. The above grading policy will apply to any tests not taken at the scheduled time because of failed or missing remediation.
Work not completed according to the above policy will be scored as zero credit and will average as such into the final course grade.
Cheating: Cheating on any assignments, quizzes, or exams will not be tolerated. Having a smart device on your person during an exam is considered cheating. This course has a zero tolerance policy for cheating. If you are suspected of cheating you will automatically be given an F for your final course grade. The instructor also has the option to remove you from the program without the possibility to re-enroll at a later date (per the Student Handbook, "Course Ethics" section).
Each student is encouraged to do his/her best from the start of the course, because "extra work" will not be possible at the end of the course in an effort to raise a failing grade.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Regular and punctual attendance for each class is encouraged for the successful completion of the course.
Students with more than two absences will have three (3) points removed from the FINAL GRADE.
Absences include, regardless of the reason, coming to class 15 minutes after the scheduled start of the class or leaving class 15 minutes before the class is dismissed. Absences relate to lecture or major exams. Leaving the class room frequently on a regular basis will count as an absence. If a remote option is offered, you may attend lectures remotely. However, you must keep your camera on and be in sight of the camera the entire class time to be counted in attendance. Reviews must be done in person in order to engage in the hands-on activities.
