Tutoring for Success applies to any student whose overall performance in the course falls below 75%. The instructor will create the task in the Student Engagement Portal (Watermark) to direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty- or SI-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. The tutoring service assigned, the due date for when the tutoring must be completed, and the amount of tutoring required are at the discretion of the instructor. Additionally, the task will alert the student’s success team. Students who do not fulfill the assigned tutoring task may be subject to program- and course-specific penalties that could result in a grade reduction and/or in not being allowed to progress in the course until the tutoring requirement has been satisfied.

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

CLASSROOM GROUND RULES:
Be respectful to your classmates and to your instructor on the discussion boards. More detailed procedures and requirements will be given with the first discussion board question.
Word Count: The purpose for the word count is to explore the discussion question and give your classmates insight on what you think. The 200-250 narrative word count excludes copying the questions, the 150 reply word count excludes addressing peers, while it is good to address our peers with a salutation, it won't be included in the word count. There aren't any "right or wrong" answers on discussion boards in my class; however, I will count off heavily if the question is not answered or if it contains errors.
Best Practices:
Exams/Quizzes are to be taken INDIVIDUALLY. If a student is caught participating in group testing, he/she will automatically receive a "0" and will be subject to further disciplinary actions as outlines in the AC Students Rights & Responsibilities.

In Blackboard, SafeAssign is included in all assignments, reports and projects. You will have access to the SafeAssign report that the instructor will receive when handing in assignments. If the SafeAssign report shows more than 50% is copied (ie, plagerism, non-MLA cited, misquoted) the student will receive a 0 but will have a chance to justify the report for a docked grade. If no justification is made, the 0 will remain in effect.
GRADING SCALE:
90 - 100% = A Excellent
80 - 89% = B Above Average, Very Good
70 - 79% = C Average, Good
60 - 69% = D Poor, but passing
Below 60% = F Failing
EXAMINATIONS:
Examinations will consist of true-false and multiple choice questions. All exams will be completed online and MUST be completed within the timeframe allowed. Exams will be available starting Friday at 5:00 p.m. CST to Monday at 11:45 p.m. CST. Students will be allowed 2 attempts at the exams and the higher grade of the exams will be accepted.

Attendance Policy:
You must be self-disciplined and exercise time management to complete the requirements of this course. Students are expected to attend class and in an online class students are expected to log on at least three times each week. All assignments, exams, discussion boards and term papers are to be submitted by the assigned deadlines unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructor.
CENSUS DAY/ADMINISTRATIVE DROP: Students must attend class and/or log on within the first week of class and participate in discussion boards, assignments, etc. If students do not log in and complete 75% of the first week's material by the *Census Date, the student will be administratively dropped from the course.

The specific due dates for assignments, discussion board posting requirements, and the time frame that the exams will be open will be communicated to you in the course in Blackboard on AC Connect, but typically open after class and close the following Sunday end of day. I will attempt to provide weekly "to do" checklists to assist students; however, it is your responsibility to log on multiple times per week to make sure you are meeting required deadlines.

How to get started:
Once you are enrolled in the course, you will have access on the first day of the semester. Go to the Amarillo College website at www.actx.edu and click on the "AC Connect" portal link at the top of the page. Once the AC Connect login screen appears, enter your Username and Password (Use the same username and password that you use for WebAdivsor). Click the Log On button. Once logged in, all of your current semester classes will appear in the middle of the screen. Click on HRPO 2301.
