Tutoring for Success applies to any student whose overall performance in the course falls below 75%. The instructor will create the task in the Student Engagement Portal (Watermark) to direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty- or SI-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. The tutoring service assigned, the due date for when the tutoring must be completed, and the amount of tutoring required are at the discretion of the instructor. Additionally, the task will alert the student’s success team. Students who do not fulfill the assigned tutoring task may be subject to program- and course-specific penalties that could result in a grade reduction and/or in not being allowed to progress in the course until the tutoring requirement has been satisfied.

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

This course is an introduction to preparing, formating, and managing documents; creating and enhancing tables; and creating a mail merge using word processing software.
In addition to learning how to effectively use Microsoft Word, the course will include
learning the basics of creating a business document such as a business letter or a memo

By the end of the semester, the student will be able to satisfactorily complete all of the Learning Outcomes (Minimum Competencies) with a competency level based on the completion of required examinations administered under the supervision of the instructor and evaluated according to the instructor’s grading scale in the Business Technology Department.

Students are expected to maintain a high standard of individual honor in their scholastic work. Students who are guilty of cheating, plagiarism, copying, or dishonesty may be excluded from class with a grade of F; or, in flagrant cases, may be suspended from the College. The faculty of the BSET Department reserves the right to ask a student to verify any portion of a test by reproducing any specific section or all of the test in question. Any action that comprises the computer systems at Amarillo College, including but not limited to hacking or cracking, can result in a grade of "F" in this course and possible further disciplinary action.
If student's grade falls below 70, you will need to attend mandatory tutoring as per department policy
Student grades are based on the following: Each weekly assignments are due on at their posted due date. Half credit is given if lab is turned in after the due date has passed (maximum score of 85 points). Unit Exams may be made up only in emergency situations. If you cannot make it to an in-class assignment/exam day, arrangements may be made with the instructor prior to the date to complete the assignment/exam early. The lowest project grade will be dropped.

All Week 1 assignments must be completed by Monday, 10/30 @ 10pm, in order to be considered PRESENT in the course. Failure to complete all assignments by this date may lead to an administrative drop from the course.
Attend and plan on actively participating in class. Attendance and participation is key in this course, with opportunity for coursework and assignments that can be completed in class.
Unless prior arrangements have been made, or emergency circumstances, all absences will be considered unexcused.
Check your email daily and turn in assignments on time.
Students should plan on spending a minimum of 4-8 hours per week on this course--outside of the classroom. Actual amounts will vary depending on weekly assignments and topic complexity.
