Tutoring for Success applies to any student whose overall performance in the course falls below 75%. The instructor will create the task in the Student Engagement Portal (Watermark) to direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty- or SI-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. The tutoring service assigned, the due date for when the tutoring must be completed, and the amount of tutoring required are at the discretion of the instructor. Additionally, the task will alert the student’s success team. Students who do not fulfill the assigned tutoring task may be subject to program- and course-specific penalties that could result in a grade reduction and/or in not being allowed to progress in the course until the tutoring requirement has been satisfied.
Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016
Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS
1. This is a difficult course! Online classes are not necessarily more difficult than in-class courses, but they require self discipline and motivation. You will be expected to learn the material by reading the textbook (or ebook on MyMathLab), watching the videos, and finishing the homework, reviews, and exams on MyMathLab.
2. This class demands a great deal of time. Online courses often take more time than in-class delivery courses. Please expect to spend at least 5-20 hours each week on this course. If your other life commitments do not allow you this amount of time to spend on the course, you may want to choose another course or delivery method.
3. Deadlines are your responsibility. Due dates are included in the weekly assignment which is posted on Blackboard every Monday morning. Please note that NO extensions will be granted for the deadlines specified in the weekly assignments.
4. Technical difficulties happen. If you experience problems, email me immediately. I will do my best to assist you. Please don't panic, I am here to work with you. However, completing assignments and exams a few days ahead of time ensures that if you have any technical difficulties, we can take care of them before the due date to keep you on schedule.
5. If a student's grade drops below a 75 in the class, the student will be required to spend one hour in the Math Outreach Center. You may also meet with them virtually on zoom.
6. You are responsible for getting help when you need it:
a.) Your instructor is your first, BEST resource for help. Feel free to come to the office hours or make an appointment.

ONLINE COMMUNICATION
Your online presence in the course will be established through online correspondence with me. Through any venue, disrespectful language will not be tolerated. Using foul language in emails or discussions will result in receiving a zero for that assignment and possible removal from the course. You are expected to express yourself with courtesy and consideration at all times. This attitude of respect also applies to the proctors for the midterm and final exams.
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY
Students who fail to comply with the standards outlined in the syllabus and "Student Rights & Responsibilities" will be subject to disciplinary action, which may include but is not limited to: removal from the course, consultation with the department chair or other AC authority, or withdraw from the course or college.

Policy on Cheating and Plagiarism:
Plagiarism and cheating will not be tolerated in any math course at Amarillo College. Cheating includes, but is not limited to, copying another student’s paper, submitting another student's work for your own, or using any unauthorized sources of information while taking an exam. Cheating also includes helping or attempting to help other students to cheat on an assignment or test.
Your course grade (90-100 A, 80-89 B, 70-79 C, 60-69 D, below 60 F) will be calculated using the following weights:

Unit Exam Test Work | 5% | 80 - 89% | B |
MML Unit Exams (5 Exams) | 50% | 70 - 79% | C |
Final Exam (In Person) | 30% | 60 - 69% | D |
| below 60% | F |
Unit Exams: You will be taking 5 unit exams on MyMathLab. These must be submitted by the due date. There will be no late tests given out.
Unit Exam Work: On Blackboard, you must submit your work for each problem in the submission spot under each Unit. You must have work shown on every problem for each unit exam.
Final Exam: Your final exam must be taken in person. It is a cumulative exam over Units 1 - 5. If you live outside of Amarillo, you will need to find a proctored location to take your final at.
Homework: Your homework and reviews will all be completed on MyMathLab. You will not turn in the work, but I suggest that you keep a log of all the work that you are doing. This will help you prepare for your Unit Exams and Final.

Please note that NO extensions will be granted for the deadlines specified in the weekly assignments.
Remember that the deadline for withdrawing from this class is February 27th.
Students now have to visit with the instructor and complete a drop request form before being allowed to withdraw from a course. It is the student's responsibility to obtain additional signatures and turn the form into the registrar once the instructor has signed it. Deadline for letting me know you want to drop is noon on February 27th. If you stop attending class and your average drops below a 60 due to missed assignments and you do not officially drop the course by this deadline, you will receive an F for the course.
