4. Associate VP of Academic Affairs: Becky Burton 806-371-5122
5. Interim VP of Academic Affairs: Dr. Frank Sobey (806) 345-5518
The following criteria will be used to determine your grade:
Passing course grade: 75% or higher
No late assignments will be accepted for this course
Rationale: The National Council Licensure Examination for RNs (NCLEX-RN) has become harder to reflect the need for nurses who have a high level of critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills. The increase in patient acuity and nursing responsibilities is placing greater demand on current entry-level nurses in comparison to their cohorts in the past. The National Council for State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) prepares the NCLEX-RN and establishes the minimum passing standard.
Grading Scale for RNSG 1424
A = 90-100
B = 80-89
C = 75-79
D = 60-74
F = below 60
Final Course Grades are rounded:
For example
Required graded assignments are NOT rounded:
For example, If your assignment or quiz average is 74.98, then with NO rounding, your assignment or quiz grade is a D, and so on. If a case study or quiz is 79.85, it is recorded as 79.85.
The course grade will consist of quizzes, assignments, and ATI exams and are weighted as follows:
Quizzes - 75%
Assignments - 10%
ATI Exam: RN Concept-Based Assessment Level 1 - 5%
ATI Exam: RN Concept-Based Assessment Level 2 - 5%
ATI Exam: RN Leadership 2019 - 5%
No late assignments will be accepted for this course.
All tutoring and remediation requirements must be completed in order to take the next ATI Exam.
ATI Specialty Exam Remediation Requirement:
ATI specialty exams are utilized to establish readiness for the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX).
All students will be required to complete the focused review based on the results of these assessments.
The Focused Review must be completed by the due date prescribed by your instructor. Please see the ATI grading and focused review requirement table below:
ATI Grade Conversion/Focused Review Time:
Level | Conversion Score (%) | Focused Review Time |
Level 3 | 100 | 1 hour |
Level 2 | 88 | 2 hours |
Level 1 | 75 | 3 hours |
Below Level 1 | 65 | 4 hours |
Missed Quiz or Exam:
If a quiz or exam is missed, the make-up must be taken within one week of that scheduled quiz/exam time. It will be given outside of the course meeting hours, and will be in the format of the instructor’s choosing. That format may include written exam questions, short answer, fill-ins, or essay questions. The instructor must be notified if the student is unable to attend the exam. The instructor may request a medical release for absences related to illnesses and must have that release prior to the make-up exam.
It is the student’s responsibility to contact the instructor and arrange for any make-up exam within the required time frame and provide general documentation of absence.
A comprehensive calendar will be provided on the first day of class and is subject to updates and should be checked regularly in Blackboard.
