Department Spotlight | Hereford Campus
The Hereford Campus has seen many changes this year: leadership, a freshening of our building, and new course offerings.
As we are all aware, new leadership usually brings change, but these changes have allowed us to upgrade our campus to serve our growing student population in a better manner. In addition, the campus has a new service provider in the form of a Student Life Coordinator. This new role is focused on establishing and maintaining relationships with the student body and the AC and Hereford communities. The Hereford campus participates yearly in different events around the community and hosts a health fair each year. One of our favorite activities is the Annual Festival of Trees benefiting the Hereford Senior Citizens. This yearly fundraiser assists the center in funding their home-delivered meals and activities that help seniors in the community.
We have been in our current building for the past nine years, and it was due for an update. The campus has undergone a freshening and updating that has a more cohesive and collegiate feel upon entering. AC blue paint accents the lobby, halls, and offices. Reformatted prints of our donors, the McDougal-Hinkson family, and new art also adorn our lobby.
The truck-driving program is expanding its services by adding a nighttime truck-driving program. The first cohort is set to begin instruction in spring 2024. This will allow additional training opportunities for our community and the surrounding communities and contribute to the pool of qualified and well-trained truck drivers on our Panhandle roads.
Though small, the Hereford campus serves, pursues, and guides students to success in and out of the classroom from the city of Hereford and surrounding counties whether for GED, ESL (English as a Second Language), or college-level courses. Our faculty are readily available for student support and most come to campus. The staff in the main office assists potential and current students to expedite the enrollment process. Words of encouragement can be heard in the office and on the phone if students consider withdrawing or do not feel confident in their ability to pass a course. Our Success Coach is on hand to assist our students, and the food pantry is also available for them as needed.
The Hereford campus invites you to see our updated campus, meet our students, and take a tour of our campus. If you get lost, just keep walking!
