QEP

Smart Start to Finish 2
CONNECTION    COMPLETION    CAREER

Amarillo College's Quality Enhancement Plan, Smart Start to Finish, is a college-wide retention effort focused on student engagement and connectedness, within a Guided Pathways framework, from the time potential students start with the college in the pre-enrollment phase until they graduate or transfer from the college.

The College has been involved in three integrated processes in determining and developing the QEP plan, including ongoing participation in the Texas Pathways Project, developing the No Excuses 2025 Strategic Plan, and from AC Data Summits.

Goal of the QEP:

Retention is the overarching goal of the QEP. The College's strategic plan has put forward a bold vision of 80% completion by 2025, and the best way to ensure that students complete is to retain them from fall-to-spring and fall-to-fall.

The QEP goal is to increase First-Time-in-College (FTIC) Fall-to-Fall Student Retention to 75% by 2025.

The QEP goal has two objectives and several activities that utilize the Guided Pathways model to engage students, connect them to all facets of the College, and build relationships. Within the two objectives and activities include the following:

Objective 1:

In the pre-enrollment phase, clarify paths to student end goals and help the students enter a pathway.

Activity 1a. Utilize Success 360 to engage seniors in the Region 16 school districts, as well as non-traditional adult learners, to promote Amarillo College career pathways, support services, Culture of Caring, and faculty and staff connections prior to starting at Amarillo College.

Activity 1b. Create Springboard activities highlighting Amarillo College career communities to engage Region 16 seniors, as well as non-traditional adult learners, to promote Amarillo College career pathways, support services, Culture of Caring, and faculty and staff connections prior to starting at Amarillo College.

Activity 1c. Utilize Badger Beginnings to onboard students into Amarillo College career communities and connect students with Amarillo College career pathways, support services, Culture of Caring, and faculty and staff prior to starting at Amarillo College.

Objective 2:

In the enrollment phase, help students stay on the path.

Activity 2a. Require EDUC 1100 (Learning Frameworks) for all associates degree first-time-in-college students.

Activity 2b. Create Success Networks.

Activity 2c. Use retention case management platform (Watermark Student Success & Engagement (SS&E) - formerly Aviso Retention)
