February is National American Pie Month, so in honor of that, we held our first AC Family pie competition. Congratulations to our winning AC Family member, Officer Dustin Owens, who baked an amazing Kentucky Derby pie. If you'd like to try out this recipe for yourself, we have shared it below:
The Amarillo College Police Department is here to provide the absolute best police service possible to the students, faculty, and staff of Amarillo College, and to all who visit our campuses. The officers of ACPD are committed to service before self. We check ourselves daily to make sure we're in the right mindset, by that I mean, we make sure we are approachable, accessible, and that we are accountable at all times. Campus policing is being aware that our interactions with the campus community are our top priority, because we may never know how much of an impact we have on the community that we serve.
In honor of National Poverty Awareness Month, we wanted to highlight AC's Poverty Initiative, and some of the ways AC works toward helping our students achieve their academic goals, regardless of their financial situation.
Removing a life barrier in an accelerated learning environment through a deep culture of caring = Completion. We love our students to success and help them achieve their educational and vocational dreams by:
The Amarillo College Earn & Learn program connects students in their selected program of study to the work environment, which their program leads to, through industry-driven curricula and opportunities inside and/or outside the classroom. The main goal of such a model is to prepare students to be successful in the workplace on their first day of work. This goal is accomplished by infusing programs and courses with the following Earn & Learn opportunities:
With the start of the new year, the featured reading sections throughout the Lynn Library have some wonderful options to help you with any personal growth plans you may have. If you're looking for a good jumping-off point for those new year's resolutions, try one of the great books our library friends have on offer. If the featured sections don't have something that sparks your interest, our friendly librarians are happy to help you locate something that will.
As we approach the end of the year, many people reflect on things that they’ve accomplished over the past twelve months and things they wished they’d achieved. Since it’s National Career Development Month, we wanted to provide a guide to help you think about what you want to achieve this next year and how to create a plan to get there. Whatever you want to do, you can use the acronym ASSET to help you get started.
Check here each month to see who is new to our AC Family.
Please help us welcome these new staff and faculty members as you see them.
