AC students will be at Don Harrington Discovery Center to participate in Coffee and Cuties, an event with activities and snacks co-sponsored by the Panhandle Association for the Education of Young Children. Focus of the all-day event will be on classroom management and conflict resolution through stories, language and songs. Between 300 and 400 people are expected to attend. WT Admissions and Advising representatives will be on campus to assist and answer any questions you may have about the Destination WT program. Students who meet the requirements for the program will have the opportunity to apply for Destination WT, and current students who have already applied for Destination WT will have the chance to ask questions. A brief presentation about the program will be held in Room 214 in Byrd at 10:00, 11:30 and 1:00, and those in attendance have the chance to win fun WT prizes!

Amarillo College and the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission will present a day-long conference at the Amarillo Civic Center, Grand Plaza, focusing on child sex trafficking and online risks. The conference is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at a cost of $25, lunch included. Tickets can be obtained through WT at 651-2840 at special low price of only $5. Performances are Saturday evening, 8 pm and Sunday afternoon, 2:30 pm at Mary Moody Northen Hall on the WT campus.

The AC TEACH Club, a student association for education majors, will host a conference named in honor of the late Bruce Beck, longtime reporter at the Amarillo Globe-News. The event is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at AC’s Downtown Campus and will focus on success for all students, technology in the classroom, and fostering a growth mindset. It will be highlighted by a keynote speech from Shanna Peoples, National Teacher of the Year, also a former Globe-News reporter, who teaches at Palo Duro High School in Amarillo. The conference is for educators from Pre-K to 12th grade and more than 100 are expected to attend. AC students can attend for free, and the cost is $30 for others.
