Tutoring for Success applies to any student whose overall performance in the course falls below 75%. The instructor will create the task in the Student Engagement Portal (Watermark) to direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty- or SI-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. The tutoring service assigned, the due date for when the tutoring must be completed, and the amount of tutoring required are at the discretion of the instructor. Additionally, the task will alert the student’s success team. Students who do not fulfill the assigned tutoring task may be subject to program- and course-specific penalties that could result in a grade reduction and/or in not being allowed to progress in the course until the tutoring requirement has been satisfied.

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

Calculator: Students will need a graphing calculator for this course. The recommended calculator is a Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus. Other forms of Texas Instruments or Casio graphing calculators will be permitted at the instructor’s discretion. Note that no TI-89s or TI-Nspires will be permitted. There are FREE APPS available on your smart phone device that will resemble the ti-84 calculator. Please note, although you can use these in the classroom, you cannot use them on a monitored exam. Internet Access: Students need access to a computer with a reliable internet connection to complete online homework assignments, attend virtual meetings and access to a printer to produce class notes and other handouts.
Printer: Printers are available located in MATH ACADEMIC SUCCESS CENTER located in Durrett Hall 104 or THE UNDERGROUND lab located in Ware Building. Hours of operation are located on their AC Webpage and at the bottom of your syllabus.
College ID: Students need an official Amarillo College student ID to scan into the Underground and Outreach Center and to present in the Math Testing Lab before each exam. If you do not have an ID, please know your student ID number.

Scholastic Dishonesty: Completing work or an examination in a dishonest way, as by having improper access to answers is considered to be cheating. Improper access includes, but is not limited to, copying from another student's paper, copying from the homework solutions manual, or using any unauthorized sources of information. If the proctor sees a cell phone out during any exam, the proctor will assume that student is cheating and the exam will be taken up and a grade of "F" will be received for the course.

FOOD/DRINK: It is the policy of the Mathematics and Engineering Department that food and drink be allowed in the classroom setting, at the instructor’s discretion, but food and drink are not allowed in the Computer Labs.
PHONE: It is the policy of the Mathematics and Engineering Department that cell phones must be turned off or in silent mode in the classrooms and the Computer Labs. Cell phones should not be visible during class.

MML Homework:
1. Expect to have homework throughout the week. Late homework will not be accepted. Due dates are given in MyLab.
2. All online homework must be neat and legible.
3. Homework must be presented in an orderly manner with complete work shown. You can print your assignments from MyLab and use this as your written portion provided you show your work on the page. On each problem, there is a button that will open a popup and ask if you want to print that page or the entire assignment. Print the entire assignment. Remember, LATE HOMEWORK IS NOT ACCEPTED. Calendars and due dates are set at the very first day of the course so you will know what assignments are due at all times.

Reviews:
Exam reviews can be found right after a chapters assignments and right before an exam. There is no limit on how many times you can re-take the review. You must pass your review with a 70% or higher to be given access to the exam. Reviews were specifically designed to inform you of whether you are prepared for the exam following. Once again, you must make a 70% or higher on your review to be given access t o your chapter exam.
Major Exams:
Four major exams will be given online and will be completed throughout the course.
No late exams will be given, no matter the reason. At the end of the semester, your final exam grade will replace your lowest major exam grades if it is higher.
If you know in advance that you will be not be able to complete an exam during the assigned exam dates, you can TAKE YOUR EXAM EARLY!
If your overall average falls below a 75 at any point in the semester, a minimum of 1 (one) hour must be spent in the Math Academic Success Center working on course materials. Information regarding what you will work on will be given throughout the semester.
Midterm and Final Exam:
The midterm and final exams are taken in person on the Washington Street Campus or other pre-approved proctor location. No late exams will be given, no matter the reason.
At the end of the semester, your final exam grade will replace your lowest exam grade if it is higher. The final exam is comprehensive and will be due by Wednesday March 6th by 10pm.

Attendance: If for some reason you stop working on this course and decide that you do not have time because of other commitments, please remember to officially withdraw “W” from this course. To officially withdraw "W", you must visit with your professor personally and obtain a signed "Withdrawal Approval Form" no later than 12:00pm (noon) on Wednesday, February 27, 2024. This signed form must be taken to the Ask AC desk in the Student Services Building by 5:00 pm Wednesday, February 27, 2024. This is the last date that you can withdraw “W” from this course this semester.
