Professor Susan Burks began teaching Accounting classes at Amarillo College in January 1996. She graduated from Texas A&M University - College Station with a BBA and from West Texas A&M University - Canyon with an MBA. She previously worked as a Staff Accountant at Mason & Hanger Corporation – Pantex. She also worked for Hastings Entertainment as a Staff Accountant and later as Recruitment & Development Manager. During her tenure at Amarillo College, she taught Business Management in addition to Accounting. Mrs. Burks has served Amarillo College as Faculty Senate President and as a member of multiple committees, including Academic Affairs/Curriculum Committee, Commencement Committee, Faculty Handbook Chair, and others. She enjoys volunteering in the Amarillo Community and has served on several nonprofit boards, including the Amarillo College Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Junior League of Amarillo, Amarillo Symphony Guild, Lone Star Ballet Guild, and Amarillo A&M Club. She is past Administrative Board Chair and Lay Leader at Polk Street Methodist Church. She was a past President of the Junior League of Amarillo as well as several booster clubs when her children were in school. She has served as Treasurer of many nonprofit organizations and booster clubs over the years. She and her husband, Brad, have three adult children.
Bryan Modisette is an Economics instructor who graduated from West Texas A&M University in 2023 with his Master's in Finance and Economics. He has been with Amarillo College almost two years and is now a full-time faculty member. He is also a new father of one whom he and his wife of 3 years welcomed into the world in March of this year. He enjoys hanging out with family, sports, and playing video games during his downtime. He strives to bring out the best in the students and help them anyway he can.
Mrs. Shelby Moore is an Economics and Accounting instructor dedicated to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment that empowers students to succeed. With a strong passion for education and a commitment to student development, she continually seeks innovative ways to enhance learning experiences and improve student outcomes.
Mrs. Moore’s mission is to help students build a strong foundation in financial principles, think analytically, and apply real-world problem-solving skills. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, an M.S. in Finance and Economics, and an M.P.A. in Accounting, equipping her with the expertise to bridge theory and practice effectively in the classroom.
Beyond teaching, Mrs. Moore remains engaged in the professional and academic communities, continually expanding her knowledge to bring current industry insights to her students. She is dedicated to guiding students toward academic and professional excellence, ensuring they are well-prepared for future careers in economics, finance, and accounting.
