The Kritser Diesel Technology program at Amarillo College provides students with a broad knowledge base and prepares them for entry-level industry positions. Recently renovated facilities and the addition of an advantageous and cutting-edge hydraulics component have helped elevate the program, while ensuring that program graduates remain in demand by local industry employers.
Diesel graduates typically work as diesel mechanics and diesel engine specialists. Trucking companies, auto repair shops, and manufacturers are among the primary employers of diesel mechanics. The need for trained diesel mechanics is expected to increase, and entry-level pay is appealing. Students equipped with either degrees or certificates are in demand.
