The Center for the Study of the American West, in a joint effort between West Texas A&M University and Amarillo College, will present screenings of John Ford’s “The Searchers” on Aug. 22 and John Huston’s “The Unforgiven” on Aug. 23, both at 7 p.m. in Amarillo College’s Concert Hall Theater.The two films are set in West Texas and produced during the early days of the Civil Rights movement and deal with race conflicts and the difficulties and hardships of the West.The screenings are open to the public at no charge. Each evening will begin with an introduction and end with a panel discussion.
