Frequently Asked Questions

Do you only have day classes, or can I take night classes?
Day classes are offered from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Night classes are from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Most Machining Technology classes meet twice a week.

Do I have to take all the classes?
Amarillo College offers several beginning Machining classes through Academic Credit or Adult Continuing Education.  Academic credit means specifying Machining as the major and all required classes must be completed before a Certificate of Completion is awarded.  Adult Continuing Education classes can be taken as individual classes and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are awarded after each completed class.  Adult Continuing Education classes are not transferable classes.

Where are you located?
The Machining Technology program is housed in the newly remodeled AmTech Career Academy of Amarillo College located at 3601 Plains Blvd. Amarillo, TX 79102.

Do I have to furnish my own tools?
Yes.  Hand tools are required as well as all students provide their own personal protective wear. Amarillo College provides all metals and associated equipment used to conduct classes.
