AC Students Demonstrate Know-How at 4-State IT Competition

AC and its Computer Information Systems Department hosted the three-day conference, which drew students from Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Oklahoma.

Students from a dozen universities competed with AC students for prizes in the following categories: C# Programming, Cybersecurity, Database Design, Java Programming, Microsoft Office Solutions, PC Troubleshooting, Network Design, Mobile Applications and System Analysis.

In the end, AC’s Christopher Coffee emerged with a pair of first-place awards, in Java Programming and Mobile Applications.

Also garnering first-place accolades for AC were Kyele Day for Cybersecurity, and Marshall Homfeld for PC Troubleshooting.

And AC’s Zackery Newbill collected a pair of awards, second place in C# Programming, and honorable mention in PC Troubleshooting.

Schools in attendance at the AITP Region 3 Conference were Sam Houston State University, Cameron University, Northwestern State University of Louisiana, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology, Our Lady of the Lake University, Tarleton State University, Texas State University, University of Houston, University of Mississippi, University of Texas Pan American, and University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley.
