Affordable Colleges Foundation, a leading resource for online learning and college-affordability information, has included Amarillo College in its newly published list of the Top 40 Online Community Colleges for 2014.
The list is the result of a recent survey in which Affordable Colleges Foundation analyzed data from thousands of community colleges across the country to learn which two-year schools offer the best online learning opportunities at the most affordable price.
AC is No. 11 on the list and, like each of the 40 two-year institutions touted by Affordable Colleges Foundation, has multiple online degree programs available and annual tuition and fees less than $3,000.
Tuition and fees for in-district students total just $79.75 per semester credit hour at AC. Therefore, in-district students can attend the College on a full-time basis (12 semester credit hours) for under $1,000 ($957) in tuition and fees.
"So many students today are looking for affordable online programs," said Dan Schuessler, founder and CEO of Affordable Colleges Foundation. "Community colleges have become a primary source of these low-cost online programs, giving more and more people the chance to earn a quality degree online without breaking the bank.
"It's great to see community colleges making an effort to add more online and hybrid programs," said Schuessler. "That's the type of flexibility students need to get a solid degree and transition into a successful career."
