Amarillo College Honors Veterans with Campus Ceremony

Amarillo College will honor the service and sacrifice of veterans and military-affiliated students, faculty, and staff during its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the AC Clock Tower.

Dr. Jamelle Conner, president of Amarillo College, will welcome attendees, acknowledging the contributions of those who have served in the armed forces. The ceremony will feature a patriotic medley performed by the AC Ensemble, followed by presentations from distinguished speakers:

  • Jeremy Gutierrez, veteran, community member and ordained minister
  • Joseph Johnson, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and AC Psychology major
  • Foster Conner, U.S. Air Force veteran and AC Mass Communication major

The program will also include a special acknowledgment of the branches of the armed forces represented by the AC community, led by student veteran Joseph Johnson. The ceremony will conclude with a blessing, and light refreshments will be served afterward.

“Our veterans bring invaluable experience, resilience, and leadership to our campus,” said Stephanie Brackett, AC Coordinator of Veteran Services. “Veterans Day is a time for our community to come together to recognize their service and show our gratitude for their sacrifices.”

Amarillo College encourages students, faculty, staff, veterans, and military-dependent students to attend this meaningful event as the College honors those who have dedicated themselves to the service of our nation.
