The AC Computer Service Center is a Fee-for-Service repair facility for students, faculty, and the Amarillo community. In support of student success we offer free diagnostic services and offer affordable flat-rate pricing. Our goal is to get your computer running properly with as little hassle for you and your pocketbook as possible. We provide out-of-warranty services for most notebooks, desktops, and mobile devices at reasonable prices and will assist and facilitate repairs with manufacturers for in-warranty notebooks, tablets, and other electronic devices free of charge. 

The services we offer cover all types of computer difficulties, and include, but are not limited to, virus removal, malware removal, warranty servicing, system cleanup and optimization, hard drive replacement, screen replacement, software installation, resolving WiFi connectivity, Operating System upgrades, factory resets, etc.

Laptop & Graphing Calculator Rental Program

The AC Computer Service Center offers a laptop and graphing calculator rental program for students of Amarillo College. Rental laptops and calculators are available for the duration of any given semester and may be purchased if you so choose. All of our rental units are refurbished laptops running the latest version of Windows 10, with 4GB of RAM and Intel i5 processors, on a 120GB Solid-State Drive. All of our rental calculators are TI-84 graphing calculators. The laptops come with our in-house optimization package pre-installed, providing you with up-to-date versions of common programs needed for classes, as well as ad-blocking and anti-malware software. Both products cost $65 each per semester. 

Authorized Service Provider

The AC Computer Service Center is an authorized service provider for Acer brand products. We service warranties to any Acer products bought at the AC Bookstore or any other retailer. We can repair Acer products which are in or out of warranty and provide free diagnostics.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will a diagnostic take?

For a full diagnostic, it typically takes our technicians about two hours to fully evaluate a computer. It is common and recommended for students to drop off their device and charger before going to class.

Do services have to be prepaid?

We offer free diagnostic services and will provide an estimate prior to any charges for a service. We do our best to communicate with our customers in order to avoid unexpected charges upon pickup.

What is covered under a typical warranty?

A standard manufacturer warranty will only cover manufacturer defects. It will not cover software related issues or accidental damage. However, some extended warranties may include protection against accidental damage.

What is the cost of fixing an issue not included on the price list?

Because of the subjective nature of this, issues that do not fall under a pre-defined category are handled on a case-by-case basis. Many times these issues are trivial and will be written off as a free diagnostic, however if your issue does not fall under this category, we will contact you for approval before performing any service that will cost you money.

What are the costs of renting and purchasing rental laptops?

Due to fluctuations in hardware costs, purchasing prices and rental fees are subject to change, however the cost of renting a laptop is typically $65 for an entire semester while the cost of purchasing varies by computer model.
