Public Notice: CALL FOR APPLICATIONS TO FILL BOARD OF REGENTS VACANCY

The Amarillo College Board of Regents is accepting applications from qualified individuals to fill a vacant seat on the Board of Regents.
The Board has adopted procedures to fill this vacancy by appointment. This appointment will be made with the intent to ensure that the governing body is representative of the constituency served by the college district. The appointed individual will serve out the remainder of the unexpired term for this seat, which concludes in May of 2027, and at that time the position shall be filled by election.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for consideration for this appointment under Texas law and local board policy, applicants must meet the following criteria as set forth in Election Code 141.001(a) and Education Code 130.082(d):
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be a registered, qualified voter in Potter or Randall counties.
- Must have resided continuously in the State of Texas for at least 12 months, and within the Amarillo College taxing district for at least 6 months immediately preceding the appointment.
- Must not be convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released.
- Must comply with all statutory conflict-of-interest and nepotism laws outlined in Texas Government Code Chapter 573.
