Cisco Networking again names Chris George Expert Level Instructor

For the second year in a row, Chris George, instructor of computer information systems and cybersecurity at Amarillo College, has received the distinguished Instructor Excellence Award from the Cisco Networking Academy.

The award, just as it did in 2023, recognizes George as an “Expert Level Instructor” and for being ranked “among the top 10 percent of instructors globally in student feedback and performance.”

George has now delivered Cisco Networking Academy instruction to AC students for more than 10 years.

“As a result of your accomplishments and contributions to Cisco Networking Academy, we’re pleased to announce that you are being recognized as an Expert Level Instructor,” the Academy wrote in a letter notifying George of the accolade.

The Cisco Networking Academy began in 1997 with 64 schools and has grown to become one of the "world's largest classrooms." Since its inception, the program has impacted over 20.5 million students worldwide, with a network of nearly 30,000 educators in 190 countries, empowering people to make the most of career opportunities in today’s sophisticated networking environment.

“It is an honor to have been recognized globally once more; however, I’m particularly gratified for this recognition’s validation of AC’s commitment to providing students access to cutting-edge technology and preparing them to be successful in their careers,” George said.

“Our graduates of the Cisco Networking Academy at AC are well-positioned for a variety of exciting careers in the IT industry. They can land jobs as network administrators, network engineers, cybersecurity analysts, and more,” he said.

George has done extensive research and has almost 25 years of experience in the IT/security industry. In 2020 he joined an elite, invitation-only consortium of about 1,100 cybersecurity professionals that focused on neutralizing worldwide threats to healthcare systems and critical infrastructure during the pandemic: The Cyber Threat Intelligence League.

George co-founded and currently sponsors the Bash Script Crazy technology club in which he has successfully coached students in numerous national competitions within the auspices of the Association of IT Professionals, the United States IT Collegiate Conference, and the National Cyber League. The club’s trophy case is brimming with meritorious hardware.

He is also director of AC Badger Esports.
