Faculty and Staff Support

Concerned about a student?

  • Our staff of licensed professionals are here to consult with staff, faculty, family, and friends who may be concerned about a student. During consultations, the Counseling Center will maintain the confidentiality of students who are clients to the fullest extent of the law. Consultations and referrals may be conducted by calling the Counseling Center at (806) 371-5900 or emailing accounseling@actx.edu.

  • If you need afterhours, weekend, or immediate assistance, faculty and staff may use the 24/7 TimelyCare hotline to get support on helping students and make referrals to licensed staff members by calling 1-833-4-TIMELY and selection option “1”.

Mental Health First Aid

  • The Counseling Center offers Mental Health First Aid training to all Amarillo College employees for FREE! View the MHFA Handout. Just as we have first-aid kits for physical injuries, MHFA equips you to provide initial support to someone experiencing a mental health challenge. MHFA will teach you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance-use disorders. Additionally, you will learn how to assist and connect an individual experiencing a mental health or substance-use problem to appropriate care. MHFA offers free Continuing Education Units. Registration is conducted on a first-come-first serve basis and can be accessed on Think Zoom. For any questions about MHFA training, please contact the Counseling Center at (806) 371-5900 or email accounseling@actx.edu.
