Experimental filmmaker Riley Harmon to share his insights Feb. 27-28 at AC

Riley Harmon, a graduate of the University of Oklahoma School of Art who currently lives and works in the Netherlands, will be a guest lecturer at the Washington Street Campus on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 27-28.

On each of those days, Harmon will present workshops in AC art classes from 9-11:45 a.m. and from 12:30-3:15 p.m. in Parcells Hall.

He will conclude his visit to the College with a lecture, which is free and open to the public, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 in Russell Hall, Room 131.

“Riley Harmon is a very interesting artist and thinker,” Stephanie Jung, AC instructor of art, said. “He will also have a lot of practical information to share, ideas that I think will appeal to anyone interested in art, graphic design, animation, photography or filmmaking.

“He will explain a little bit about how he plans time-based artwork and how he constructs a film and reconfigures things as the project progresses.”

Harmon, whose postgraduate studies were undertaken at Carnegie Mellon’s prestigious School of Arts, has had his projects and collaborations featured in such publications as Rolling Stone, Wired, and American Theatre Magazine.

He has exhibited, performed and screened works internationally, most recently at the Festival of Dangerous Ideas in Sydney, Australia.
