FM90 Celebrates 40th Birthday with Top-90 Countdown of Songs

KACV FM 90On March 15, 1976, with Merle Haggard’s “The Roots of My Rising” comfortably perched atop the country charts, Amarillo College radio station FM90 cut its first swath through the Panhandle airwaves.

FM90, which originated as a “progressive country” station, has chosen today (March 11) to celebrate its 40th birthday and will do so with a countdown of the top 90 FM90 songs of the last 40 years.

FM90 features alternative music these days and touts itself as “AC’s Cutting Edge!” The station boasts 100,000 watts of power and a service radius of 70 miles – unless you happen to be online.
