The mission of the Grants Development & Compliance Office is to help faculty, staff, and administration secure external funds for programs that align with AC's Strategic Plan.  The No Excuses 2025 Strategic Plan Goals are:

  1.  Completion: Our grant development and compliance efforts are crucial for securing resources that help Amarillo College increase student degree completion rates. The focus is on funding opportunities aligned with retention, graduation, and transfer student success, such as proposals for persistence/retention strategies, efficient transfer pathways, and collaborative partnerships.
  2.  Align Degrees and Certificates with Labor Market Demand: Our grant development and compliance efforts aim to secure funding that will allow Amarillo College to align academic programs with the needs of the labor market. This will enable the implementation of career pathways and foster a robust and collaborative relationship with our business partners, who are integral to driving institutional transformation.
  3.  Learning: Through our grant development initiatives, we will strategically identify and pursue funding opportunities that enhance the depth and breadth of our curricular offerings. Our compliance framework will ensure that all grant-funded programs, initiatives, and resources adhere to the highest standards of academic integrity, accessibility, and inclusive excellence.
  4.  Loving Your Neighbor: Our grant development and compliance approach is to secure funding to empower Amarillo College to create engagement opportunities for our students and enhance academic experiences for students, contributing to a more fulfilling college life.
  5.  Financial Effectiveness: Our grant development strategies are guided by a comprehensive understanding of our organization’s financial landscape, enabling us to strategically align funding opportunities with budgetary priorities. We will diligently pursue grants that support innovative programs and services and promote long-term fiscal sustainability. 

  Mission

  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities from various funding sources, such as government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other organizations.
  • Analyze grant program eligibility requirements, guidelines, and objectives to determine if they align with Amarillo College’s goals and priorities.
  • Prepare and submit compelling grant proposals effectively communicating Amarillo College’s needs, objectives, and proposed activities or projects.
  • Ensure that awarded grants are managed effectively and by the funder's requirements, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to monitor grant expenditures, activities, and progress toward achieving the objectives.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed financial records, documentation, and reports related to grant expenditures and activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and ethical standards associated with grant management.
  • Prepare and submit required progress reports, financial reports, and other documentation to funders, demonstrating responsible stewardship of grant funds and adherence to the agreed-upon goals and objectives.
  • Provide transparency and accountability to stakeholders, including funders, organizational leadership, and the community, regarding the utilization and impact of grant funds.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with funders, partners, and other stakeholders involved in the grant process.
  • Communicate effectively and address any concerns or issues arising during the grant period.
  • Foster collaboration and coordination between various organizational departments to ensure successful grant implementation and management.
  • Develop strategies and plans to secure ongoing grant funding and diversify revenue sources to support Amarillo College’s mission and programs.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff involved in grant-related activities to enhance their knowledge and skills.
  • Promote best practices and continuous improvement in grant development and compliance processes.
