Core Curriculum Submission and Assessment

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) mandates that every Texas core curriculum course align with 21st Century Skills. The new Texas Core Curriculum is "centered on increasing student learning and improving student success."

Core Curriculum Submission and Evaluation Process

Use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome to access the Course Proposal site. In the Course Proposal site, faculty can create, edit, or view proposals. The general public may also view all approved proposals.

Faculty Process to Submit and Evaluate Proposals

1. Before the annual deadline, access Course Proposal site and add/edit proposal.
2. Proposal will then be evaluated by an ad hoc committee comprised of your peers and the Director of Institutional Effectiveness.
3. Be prepared to provide data and respond to the core curriculum questions that are included on your program/department core curriculum evaluation form.

Results

At the conclusion of each year, the core curriculum assessment plans will be exported in Excel format (see 14-15 plans and 15-16 plans. The most recent version will remain viewable on the Course Proposal site). Information related core curriculum-specific meeting of outcomes will be provided in the instituton's instructional reports (Review thorugh 14-15 year and review from 15-16) Web sites.
