Intramural Volleyball in Full Swing at AC’s Carter Fitness Center

The intramural volleyball season is in full swing at Carter Fitness Center, and players of every skill level are immersed weeknights this semester in friendly co-ed action, either in the recreational division or the competitive one.

“Anybody who is enrolled in even one credit hour at AC is eligible to play.” said Trent Oneal, director of intramural sports. “The season may be under way, but students can still join a team.

“Anyone who is interested in playing should just come on over and see us at Carter Fitness Center. Everyone who comes out will get an opportunity to play, and it doesn’t cost a thing.”

Or just mosey over the fitness center and get acquainted with some of the “fiercely competitive” spikers, like team captain Enrique Gamez.

“My expectation for intramural volleyball here at Amarillo College is to just have fun,” Gamez, said.

Or hook up with Payton Nelson, a captain who always has her game face on.

“Sports is a good way to stay active,” Nelson said. “I just want to enjoy it and make friends.”

It’s hard to imagine a single “kill” taking place on the premises, but truly they do.
