Approved by Academic Affairs September 28, 2004

The following procedures are adhered to regarding transfer credit of legal specialty courses to ensure program continuity, consistency, integrity, and quality:

  • The Legal Studies Coordinator must review the student’s transcript, course description, course content, and course credit/contact hours. The course description, content, and credit hours must be comparable to program requirements for transfer credit to be granted.
  • The Legal Studies Coordinator will review all transfer requests of legal specialty courses---including WECM and ABA approved courses.
  • The Legal Studies Coordinator will interview the student to obtain an oral report of course content.
  • A course grade of “C” is the minimum transfer requirement.
  • The Legal Studies Coordinator will approve/disapprove legal specialty course transfer requests by completing required paperwork.
  • The student will receive a copy of the approval/disapproval by mail.
  • In accordance with AC’s institutional policy, a transfer student must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours at Amarillo College.
  • A student may transfer legal specialty courses consistent with institutional policies; however, as a requirement of the ABA approval, a student must complete a minimum of 18 hours of legal specialty courses at Amarillo College.
