Palace Coffee debuts Thursday, Feb. 1 on AC’s Washington Street Campus

Palace Coffee will make its much-anticipated debut at 7 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 on the first floor of the College Union Building, and the official opening of AC’s first permanent coffeehouse is cause for celebration — for everyone involved.

“Palace Coffee Company is excited to become a partner of Amarillo College,” said Patrick Burns, owner and founder of Palace Coffee, a locally rooted company with three other locations in Amarillo and Canyon.

“We believe in hospitality, in bringing people together, and in creating spaces where people feel valued. Our new location at Amarillo College will be no different.”

Interest in a coffee shop of some kind has been high on the wish list of AC students for a long time. Hot drinks have previously been dispensed only from vending machines.

Palace Coffee, which was named America’s Best Coffeehouse for 2013-14, was selected by Amarillo College from a group of potential vendors to lease a renovated space in the College Union Building.

The AC location’s initial hours of operation will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays.
