Panhandle PBS Celebrates Route 66 Centennial with Special Programming Lineup

As communities across the region celebrate 100 years of the iconic Route 66, Panhandle PBS will present a special lineup of locally relevant programming throughout June in conjunction with the Texas Route 66 Festival.

The programming highlights the history, culture, public art, and enduring legacy of the Mother Road, which has shaped generations of travelers and communities across the Texas Panhandle.

In Open Air

Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.

Panhandle PBS viewers can enjoy three episodes of In Open Air, a series that explores public art and creative expression across the region.

  • June 25 — Episode 3: Public Secrets

Route 66: A Journey Through Texas

Thursday, June 11 at 8 p.m.

Produced by Panhandle PBS and originally broadcast in 1999, Route 66: A Journey Through Texas offers a whimsical look at the development of the Mother Road and the lasting impact it has had on local culture, tourism, and economic growth throughout the Texas Panhandle.

Cadillac Ranch: 10 Cars, 10 Movements, 1 Stunning Performance

Friday, June 12 at 8 p.m.

This documentary explores one of the Panhandle's most recognizable landmarks, examining the artistic vision, cultural significance, and continuing influence of Cadillac Ranch on generations of visitors and artists.
