Dr. Gene Norman, a member of the Amarillo College Board of Regents, has tendered his resignation from the Board due to complications from a recent medical condition.
Norman is a psychologist, economist and longtime educator with four college degrees, including a Ph.D., who won election to the Board in 2008.
“We are sorry to lose Dr. Norman,” Don Nicholson, chairman of the Board, said. “We appreciate his input over the years, and his community-wide knowledge and experience will be greatly missed. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
Norman’s resignation leaves an opening on the Board that will be filled by special appointment. Whomever is selected to fill the vacancy—Norman’s term expires in 2015—will serve until the 2015 May election, at which point the designee may choose to file for election to a full, six-year term on the Board.
Persons interested in being appointed to Norman’s seat on the AC Board of Regents are invited to submit a letter of intent and a résumé by Dec. 1, 2014 to the attention of Brenda Sadler in the Amarillo College President’s Office, P.O. Box 447, Amarillo, Texas, 79178.
Interested parties are also welcome to contact any member of the Board of Regents about this opportunity. Members of the Board are: Carroll M. Forrester, Michele Fortunato, Dan Henke, Johnny Mize, Mary Jane Nelson, Don Nicholson, Dr. Paul Proffer and Dr. David Woodburn.
