Renewable Energy

One- and two-year certificate and associate-degree programs at Amarillo College can help you reach your goals of a secure and prosperous future. Great jobs and outstanding careers are available right now in West Texas and await those with the appropriate training to snare them.

Here are just a few really good ideas for a career in Renewable Energy...

Coupled with the rapid expansion of the wind-energy industry in West Texas is an almost immediate need for trained power workers (electric linemen). Amarillo College will launch its new Utility Power Worker Program in fall 2011 as local industry projects a need for up to 400 new electrical workers to help construct and maintain new wind-power transmission lines in the region.

Due to the rapid increase in industrial use of instrumentation devices, companies need trained Instrument & Control Technicians now. Learn how to set up, install, calibrate, maintain and repair automated equipment, then go to work in an industry where the outlook is strong.

If you are looking for a hands-on career with plenty of opportunity, look into the Process Technology Certificate Program at AC’s Moore County Campus. The program requires only 20 semester hours to complete, and successful graduates are landing jobs as machinery operators and efficiency technicians at a growing number of manufacturing plants in the area.
