The potential for and solar energy in the United States is enormous, and this Amarillo College program inspires students to learn about the many electrical and mechanical properties that applicable to alternative power. With support from the National Science Foundation in 2010, AC added a Solar component to its renewable energy curriculum. Students receive highly relevant electrical, mechanical, energy and safety instruction.
The U.S. Department of Energy predicts Texas will continue to be one of the hottest markets for jobs in the solar industry. Graduates enter a job market that analysts predict will generate as many as 123,000 new technologically advanced jobs in the Texas solar market by 2020 with salaries that range from $30,000 annually for entry-level positions, to $50,000, depending on the level of experience.
