Exhibit in AC’s Common Lobby Gallery to feature inclusions in Freelancer magazine
A special launch of the Freelancer exhibit has been dubbed “An Evening in a Beatnik-style Coffee House’’ and will include an introduction of the magazine’s many contributors, as well as, poetry performances by students in AC’s theatre honor society, Delta Psi Omega.
The exhibition’s bohemian-themed opening is slated from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 7 in the gallery, which is located in the foyer at the entrance to the Concert Hall Theater in the Music Building on the Washington Street Campus.
The event is free and open to the public.
Freelancer is an annual springtime publication of the AC English Department and is designed to showcase student, faculty and staff writing and artwork of all kinds. Submissions are competitively judged for acceptance by Freelancer staff.
“This year’s Freelancer contains some marvelous creations, and we’re delighted to be able to display them,” said Steven Cost, associate professor art and curator of the Common Lobby Gallery. “We’ll have the gallery fashioned like a 1950’s beatnik-style coffee house worthy of the Beat Generation. It will be very cool.”
