College’s creativity goes on display at Visual Arts & Design Faculty Art Show
An opening-night gala to commemorate the exhibit is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21. It is free and open to the public.
The faculty artists will be on hand to talk about their work and their artistic philosophies, and refreshments will be served. Additionally, Dr. Jim Laughlin, saxophonist and professor of music, will provide ambience from 5-5:30 p.m.
Brent Cavanaugh, chair of the Visual Arts and Design Department, will introduce the individual artists at 5:30 p.m.
They are: Jamie Carrillo, Brent Cavanaugh, Steven Cost, Victoria Taylor-Gore, Stephanie Jung, Denis Olson, René West and Seth White. Works by some adjuncts also will be featured in the exhibit, according to Cost, who also serves as curator of the Common Lobby Gallery.
Painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and graphic design will be among the media on display, Cost said.
The Common Lobby Gallery is located in the Music Building on the Washington Street Campus. The gallery is on the ground floor, in the foyer between the Concert Hall Theater and the Amarillo Museum of Art.
