Marty Rowley of State Board of Education to address future teachers
Rowley will address AC students, including members of AC’s Teach Club, from 10:45 — 11:20 a.m. in Dutton Hall, room 101, on the Washington Street Campus.
“This is a very special, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our students,” said Mary Clare Munger, chair of AC’s Education/Child Development Department. “I’m truly thankful to Mr. Rowley for taking the time to meet and engage with our students.
“It is far from every day that a member of the State Board of Education meets with college students and answers their questions face to face.”
Rowley, an Amarillo attorney, represents Education District 15, the largest in the state, which includes all 26 counties of the Panhandle. He is serving his second term on the state board.
Along with serving on the full board, Rowleyis the chairman ofthe Committee on School Initiatives, which oversees charter schools. He has also been named as the chair of the ad hoc committee to develop a long-range plan for Texas public education.
Locally, Rowley is past president of the Maverick Boys and Girls Club and past chairman of the Governmental Affairs Council of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce.
