A holiday tradition starts here: PBS airs recordings of local musical events
Locally produced recordings of performances by Amarillo Opera, Amarillo Symphony and the West Texas A&M University Symphony Orchestra and Choirs will be aired in their entirety in late December on Panhandle PBS.
These are the live recordings scheduled to air on Panhandle PBS:
Christmas at West Texas A&M University: Sing a Song for the Glorious Season
- Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 25 at 9:30 p.m.
- Celebrate the holidays with this concert staged on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2017 at WTAMU and featuring the WTAMU Choirs and Orchestra, the Canyon High School Chorale and more.
Amarillo Symphony: Happy Holiday Pops
- Thursday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 25 at 7 p.m.
- Join the Amarillo Symphony and Amarillo Master Chorale for a celebration of some favorite Christmastime songs and carols in this concert recorded in December 2016 at the Amarillo Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts.
Amarillo Opera’s La Traviata
- Friday, Dec. 29 at 8 p.m.
- Eric Barry and Suzanna Ramo star in this local production of the Verdi masterwork, which was performed in Oct. 6, 2017.
Amarillo Opera and WTAMU helped launch the new holiday tradition by submitting their own recordings, while staff at Panhandle PBS recorded Amarillo Symphony’s 2016 holiday concert.
