Senior Nursing Major Recognized by Texas Nurse Associations

Three outstanding nursing students nominated by their faculty, one each from AC, Texas Tech and West Texas A&M, were presented with plaques during a banquet at the Amarillo Civic Center.

“I’m honored to have been chosen as AC’s outstanding nursing student, especially because we have so many really great student nurses,” said Adkins, who serves as a peer nursing tutor at AC and is secretary for the College’s Student Nursing Association.

“I think the banquet was just wonderful because of the opportunities we had for networking with some of the nurses we’ll be working with in the future,” Adkins said.

Adkins, who will graduate this December, was not the only nurse with ties to AC to be recognized at the banquet. The evening’s theme was “Panhandle Great 25 Nurses,” and 25 practicing registered nurses within the region — several whom completed degrees at AC -- were designated this year’s Great 25 Nurses.
